Dr. Pierpaolo Cortellini received his MD from the University of Florence (Italy) in 1980, and his DDS in 1984 from the University of Siena (Italy). He runs a multidisciplinary Private Practice and a Private Educational Center in Florence (Italy). Visiting Professor at KU Leuven (Be) Dept. of Oral Health Sciences, he is the founder of the research non-profit organisations ATRO (Firenze, IT) and ERGOPerio (Berne, CH) and the founder of the Cortellini Perio Academy. He is Past President of the Italian Society of Periodontology and of the European Federation of Periodontology. Promoter and Coordinator of six “National Educational Projects” from SIdP, he was Scientific Chairman of Europerio 6 and of the 1^st EFP Master Clinic. Dr. Cortellini is involved in clinical research and education in periodontology since 1982, with special emphasis for periodontal regeneration, mucogingival surgery and diagnosis. Dr. Cortellini lectures extensively on a national and international level; he is referee of the main scientific journals in the field of periodontology, and is the author of more than 150 original publications in scientific journals.

Karin Jepsen ist seit 2008 Oberärztin für Parodontologie und Implantologie an der Universität Bonn. Sie hat 1983 ihr Zahnmedizinstudium an der Universität Hamburg abgeschlossen und absolvierte von 1983 bis 1985 eine Weiterbildung in Oralchirurgie an der Abteilung für Mund-, Kiefer- und Gesichtschirurgie des Universitätsklinikums Hamburg. Von 1986 bis 1988 besuchte sie das Postgraduiertenprogramm für Parodontologie/Orale Implantologie an der Loma Linda University, Kalifornien, USA, unterstützt durch ein Stipendium des Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (DAAD). Von 1990 bis 1991 war sie „Postdoc“ in der oralen Mikrobiologie (Stipendium der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG)) an der Loma Linda University. Von 1993 bis 2008 unterhielt sie eine auf Parodontologie/Implantologie spezialisierte Privatpraxis in Hamburg.
Sie ist Mitglied des EFP-Workshop-Komitees, das kürzlich klinische Leitlinien der Stufe S3 für die Behandlung von Parodontitis und periimplantären Erkrankungen entwickelt hat. Sie hält Vorträge in Masterkursen für plastische und regenerative Parodontalchirurgie, hat zahlreich publiziert in renommierten Zeitschriften und hat viele nationale und internationale Auszeichnungen erhalten. Zuletzt erhielt sie den DG PARO meridol® Preis der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Parodontologie und den R. Earl Robinson Periodontal Regeneration Award der American Academy of Periodontology.

Prof. France Lambert graduated in dentistry in 2002 and completed her post-graduate program in Periodontology at the University of Liège, Belgium in 2005. Thereafter, she received a 1-year ITI scholarship to expand her education in implantology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and defended her PhD thesis on regenerative biomaterials in 2011 while acting as a Head of Clinic at the University of Liège. Currently, she is Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontology, Oro-dental Surgery and Implant Surgery (https://www.uperio-liege.be) at University of Liège in Belgium and the director of the EFP accredited post graduate program in periodontology and implant dentistry. She is also the co-director of the dental Biomaterials Research Unit (d-BRU) (https://www.d-bru.uliege.be). Her clinical activity is exclusively dedicated to periodontology and implantology and her research focuses on the validation of innovative protocols in implant dentistry, hard and soft tissue regeneration, and the development of smart regenerative materials. France Lambert is the Past President of the Belgian Society of Periodontology (2013-2016), Delegate at the European Federation of Periodontology (since 2017), Chair of the ITI Belux section (since 2017) and an Affiliate of the European Academy of Esthetic dentistry (since 2013). She is also a member of the Expert Council of the Osteology Foundation (since 2019) and a member of the ITI Research Committee (since 2021). She is lecturing internationally and is the author of numerous scientific articles and acts as a reviewer for several journals in her field.

Prof. dr. Bruno G. Loos, Academic Center for Dentistry Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Bruno Loos is professor emeritus in periodontology at the Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA). Until 2020, he was chairman of the Department of Periodontology. In the period 2019-2022, he held the position of Director of Research and Vice Dean at ACTA. He is director of the EFP-accredited postgraduate course in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. Loos is involved in research questions in the field of immunobiology of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and investigates the relationship between oral health and general health, a.k.a. periodontal medicine. In 2021, Loos received the Distinguished Scientist Award for Research in Periodontal Disease from the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). Loos is honorary member of the Dutch Society of Periodontology.

Frauke Müller ist Professorin und Lehrstuhlinhaberin für Gerodontologie und abnehmbare Prothetik an den Universitätskliniken für Zahnmedizin der Universität Genf, Schweiz. Frauke Müller war Präsidentin verschiedener Fachgesellschaften. Sie ist Mitherausgeberin des ITI-Behandlungsleitfadens Nr. 9 über „Implantattherapie beim geriatrischen Patienten“ und des Lehrbuchs „Oral Healthcare and The Frail Elder“. Sie ist Mitherausgeberin des Journal of Oral Rehabilitation and Gerodontology. Frauke Müller ist Ehrenmitglied des European College of Gerodontology, des BSSPD und des International Team of Implantology (ITI). Frauke Müller wurde zweimal mit dem IADR Distinguished Scientist Award ausgezeichnet, 2013 für Geriatric Oral Research und 2023 für Research in Prosthodontics and Implants. Im Jahr 2019 erhielt sie die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Thessaloniki. Ihre Forschungstätigkeit bezieht sich hauptsächlich auf die Gerodontologie, die orale Funktion sowie die Total- und Implantatprothetik.

Prof. Luigi Nibali graduated from the University of Catania in Italy and was awarded a PhD in Periodontology at University College London in 2006. He previously worked as Lecturer and then Reader in Periodontology at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and then at Queen Mary University of London. He is currently Professor/Honorary Consultant, Academic Lead and Director of the Postgraduate program in Periodontology at King’s College London, based at Guy’s Hospital. He is also the Co-Lead of the King’s College London Oral Clinical Research Unit. Prof. Nibali has widely published in the medical and dental literature and received several international research prizes in periodontology. His research interests range from periodontal medicine, genetics and microbial aetiopathogenesis and minimally-invasive periodontal treatment of intrabony defects and furcations.

In the treatment of Stage IV Periodontitis patients, we need to integrate periodontal treatment with interdisciplinary treatments aim to restore the lost masticatory function. In this presentation we shall discuss not only the evidence behind the importance of this integration to achieve long term successful outcomes, but also the rationale for the sequence of therapies and the key factors to achieve these outcomes. We shall present representative cases mainly focused in case type II (patients with pathological tooth migration and collapse bite syndrome.

Otto Zuhr studied dentistry at the University of Aachen from 1986 to 1992. He is board certified specialist in Periodontology of the German Society of Periodontology (DGParo) and runs a private office together with Markus Hürzeler in Munich, Germany dedicated to periodontology and implant dentistry.

With more than 25 years of clinical experience and teaching practice, Dr. Zuhr has become a proven expert in his field well beyond the European borders. His phd thesis was dedicated to soft tissue replacement grafts for oral soft tissue reconstruction. From 2007 to 2014 he was board member of the German Society of Periodontology (DGParo) and he`s presently holding an associate professorship position at the Department of Periodontology of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany (Director: Prof. Peter Eickholz).

Otto Zuhr has written several refereed scientific articles in the field of periodontology and implant dentistry. His book “Plastic Esthetic Periodontal and Implant Surgery” was published by Quintessence in 2012. Today, his research activities are focused on oral soft tissue wound healing and oral soft tissue reconstruction.
